Victoria's Rosetta Stone

I chose this because I not only love the Spanish language but because it very easily displays 3 key factors of leadership.
  1. creates a change
  2. motivates you to do better
  3. enables you to come in contact with people you were not capable of meeting had it not been for that particular leadership
these are all important because a part of leadership is creating a change and just like in Rosetta it changes how you communicate with others and how you make your subject known.
I also chose Rosetta Stone as a leadership analogy because a leader has to motivate people to follow and Rosetta Stone has to do its job to keep people motivated to continue learning a different language.
lastly, I chose Rosetta stone because it just like leadership without it you would not have been capable of meeting and talking to certain people without it.

My favorite activist would have to be the all time favorite Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I believe that Dr. King displays many of the practices talked about with in our LEAD class but some imparticular would be lighting a spark I love the way Dr. King was sooo passionate about his passion that he not only influenced his peers but Dr. King influenced a movement that eventually changed the USA he started a legacy and I believed and redirected history. He has impacted my view because he allowed me to see that anyone has the ability to change the world if you stay true to your passion and show radical belief. it has impacted my leadership by motivating me to be fearless.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Why MY eyes light up.

After watching this video the quote that most relates to my passion would be when zander states that "He depends his power upon his ability to make other people powerful." I feel that this quote accurately relates to me because my passion is encouraging others, I realized this was my passion far long ago. i always wanted to be to others everything that i desired to have and as a result i to others became a loyal friend a good encourager and a great listener although this has often not been repaid it has really became something i am passionate about because people never really know some ones story they always assume to know. they see their smile and assume they're happy or hear their optimism and think that they have never had struggles. for years i have battled with many things like low self esteem, loneliness, and depression. as i learned to overcome these things i wanted to be able to show others the things that i failed to see during those times. i wanted to be able to show others the little things in themselves that i failed to see in myself. when asked the question what are you passionate about my response is always to be able to change lives something about helping others inspires me to continue to keep moving through life because it teaches me that no matter what i go through  im not going through it for myself but im going through it so that i can eventually help someone else. i believe that it doesn't mean anything for anyone to have success if they cant inspire others to reach the same goal after all no one truly lives life alone. so i guess making a long story short for this blog what makes my eyes light up is the ability to motivate other to continue through lifes tribulations and to be the ear to listen and a voice of direction for anyone who may be searching for it.

Martin Luther King Jr.

This speech to is significant because I can relate to it. It was a model to let us know what we as one must strive for. It also allowed us to see in remembrance of where we came from it shows leadership because it had to take courage and  the ability to be brave in order to stand in front of thousands to address a issue that could have had him killed on the spot with hesitance of whether he would be shown justice or not. It is relevant to possibility because when Martin  gave this speech he did not know what to come he didn't know if African Americans were going to receive freedom neither did he know if that what he said would make an impact but he yet took a stand a stand of courage and faith and by his many acts of possibility he transformed and started a recreation of the mindset of the men and women that surrounded him his act of possibility not only impacted him and African Americans but it also shaped people of all ethnicity white Jewish any ethnicity. I believe this speech is relevant to the emerging leaders program because we are all going to come to point where we are challenged with something we are passionate about but it is up to us whether we are going to take a stand for it or it will be up to us to act on it and make a different even if what we are passionate about is not as big at Dr. Kings we still as emerging leaders have a duty to lead on it. i believe it is relevant to your beginning depend upon your end because it determines the path you will take and how you will finish your race if Dr. King never chose to lead nor did he chose to speak on what he believed all the pain and fear and also the change and shift in the culture would have never happened. this speech is effective be he spoke from the heart he also spoke for the people who afraid he was the voice during that time where most lied silent because they did not have a choice but to be.

EL EXTRA CREDIT

As a result of this program I personally have learned a lot about myself and others. It has taught me how to view others and situations. this program has shifted my paradigm to see the possibilities versus all the negativity that life can sometimes throw.  the assignment in ACAD allowed me to really see in depth who the individual people where in the program and what they had to offer not just as a leader but as a friend. in high school i was not necessarily the type of person who go to the parties and hang out with the group not because i was not liked because i was but simply because it was not possible to actually have a genuine conversation  with the people i called my peers without them having a judging mentality such as ohhh she thinks shes all that or the fact that everyone thought that i had it together so the only time they came to me was when they had a problem or hep trying to get through a situation. it was not the i did not want to help them because i did my passion is in serving but the thing that hurt the most through out not just high school was the fact that being a "leader" put me in a state of loneliness not soo much where i had no one there for me but in the case of where i no one on to communicate with no one who really understand me. coming into this program has allowed me to see a different bread of people it has shown me something that i never really had before that is people who genuinely care and honestly want the best for you personally

While doing the activity last Wednesday i was honestly kind of relieved doing the activity because i had a lot to vent about i carried a lot of baggage in high school which hindered me from fully be capable of being myself. but this event Wednesday really shaped the way i perceived the EL program i was able to share something that i have not shared to anyone. thinking about this program i think i was thinking of how much this program really affected me and it was overwhelming because this program has offered me something irreplaceable which are lifelong friendships and open mind to possibilities.

All and all as i conclude this blog i really believe that this experience has shown me a lot. although i have only been this program for a month this experience has shown me how to go into a situation in a positive  perception be willing to open up and express who you are because you never know how what you have to offer can change the world of someone else.
